That was a fun weekend.  I’m out of shape and got my butt (well my lungs and heart really) kicked on the “easy” mountain bike run we did.  I got to see Mike race on today which made me happy as I’ve never seen him race.

I did my Emergency First Responder class tonight.  It’s similar to the Red Cross First Aid and CPR classes.  I have to take that before I can do the Rescue Diver course.

Now off to a weekend in Grand County with Mike and Lisa!  I’m looking forward to mountain biking and hanging out with them.  I’m also looking forward to spending some time with Colorado Mother Nature as I will miss the Colorado mountains when I leave.

There is a company in Bali that I am quite impressed with.  They make houses and furniture out of bamboo and are trying to teach people about the sustainability of bamboo.  They are affiliated with a school, a hotel, and a kids camp also.  I researched all the companies and think I would love to work for any of them.  I sent my resume and a letter to Ibuku, Bambu Indah, Green Camp, Green Village, and Green School today.  I feel really drawn to this group of companies.  It would be great to work with them in some way.  I got a standard response that Green Camp receives a lot of applications and they will get back to me.

The realtor I was thinking of using to sell the house said she’s list it for $265,000 with the hopes of selling it for $250,000.  I’m not quite sure what number I was hoping for, but this was not it.  I think I’ll look for another realtor.

Diving

I might want to work as a divemaster.  Maybe, I should be ready for that.  I did a little research.  You have to have your advanced certification, then you can get your rescue diver certification and then divemaster.  Well, I have the advanced certification so today I signed up for my rescue diver certification.  It will be too much to do the divemaster certification here, but this should set me up for it.  Plus, it’s not a bad skill set to have!

I watched a bunch of videos about unlocking cars.  It looks pretty easy.  This is going to be a fun way to volunteer at Burning Man.  It’s also kind of eye opening how easy it is to break into a car if you have the right tools.

I got word back from GSC that all the positions I applied for were filled already.  Ooops sorry, we didn’t contact you?

Someone posted on Next Door Floyd Hill that they are looking for a new house to rent in the fall.   I contacted them.  It doesn’t hurt to make some contacts in case.

I sent emails to all the companies (5 different companies) that I applied for Antarctica jobs to see if I could get a status update since none of them have responded – not even “no”.

Still don’t know where I’m going if Antarctica doesn’t happen.  I feel stuck on making a new plan because I’m waiting for Antarctica.

After I got my ticket, I asked Katie who she thought I should camp with at Burning Man and she said the Fucking Flamingos – the group she camped with the year before.  I knew a couple people at that camp and contacted one of them.  He put me in touch with another guy who sent me a bunch of information on the camp.  I told him about my plan to only do planning/prep for Burning Man if it is simple and stress free.  He suggested I was doing Easy Man this year.  This camp seemed to be a good fit for me and I love meeting new people.  Sign me up.  Ticket – Check.  Home on the Playa – Check.  Now to find a ride out there.  Well on my way to making Easy Man a reality!

A Burning Man ticket code arrived in my email inbox today.  I guess a ticket fell in my lap.  The main reason I was ok if it didn’t happen was because it is always a lot of work getting ready to go.  It can be stressful.  I decided to make this the most stress free trip to the playa yet.  If it requires a lot of work, drama, or stress, I’m not doing it.  Think I can pull it off?

This year I didn’t plan to go to Burning Man.  I was co-working with Katie today and she asked if I was going.  I said I didn’t think so.  She looked at me and told me that didn’t sound like a real no.  I told her that if a ticket fell in my lap I’d go, but I wasn’t putting out an effort to look for one.  Later we went back to the house and as she was getting ready to go out for the evening, I told Travis about the conversation.  He told me he just sent off his request for tickets for his team 10 minutes ago.  “Oh well, I told him, it’s ok.  I’d be happy to go, I’d be happy to not go”.  Later in the evening, he told me he sent out another email to see if he could get one more ticket for me.  If he could, I’d have to do a shift for Lock Out, unlocking cars.  That sounds fun!
