Jury

Jury duty today.  Wow.  This is nuts.  They called hundreds of people for this case.  I didn’t even know this many people lived in the county.  There wasn’t enough room for people to park.  I had to park 5 blocks away.  They didn’t have enough room for us to be in the same room and we were packed in there.  They had to give the information out twice.  Then we had to wait a couple hours while they went through some of the questionnaires.  We came back and they let some people go and told the rest of us to come back in a few more hours.  Then back again so they could let  a few more go and let anyone who wanted to say why they couldn’t serve speak.  We had to call back that evening to hear more names of people who could go.  This could ruin Easy Man.  I was let go this evening.  What a long day of hurry up and wait.

Ouray, Silverton, Telluride

I had planned a trip to Ouray with a friend of mine that I haven’t hung out with in a long time.  We were going to go climbing and mountain biking and I was so looking forward to reconnecting with him.  It would have been last weekend, but after I made campground reservations, he told me he might not be able to go and he’d let me know when he found out.  Time came and went and he never gave me a definite answer.  So, I made plans to go to Grand County last weekend instead.  The campground let me reschedule my reservation for this weekend and Cynthia and I went.  Again, this is part of my plan to spend some quality time with Colorado before I leave.  It was also great to spend quality time with Cynthia.  We spent a day in Telluride too.  I have never been there and fell in love love love with Telluride.  And surprise! It was the weekend of the Telluride Mushroom Festival.  Oh, small mountain towns…..  I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

I’m not real happy with the realtor’s numbers so I called Trelora.  They charge a flat fee for their work, not a commission so I could save a bit of money.  They think I can sell the house for $275,000.  That’s better.  I’m skeptical that buyer’s real estate agents will want to show the house since Trelora is known for offering a low commission to the buyer agent.  However, everyone I’ve talked to at Trelora is upbeat and easy to talk to.  I think I’d like working with them.  They said they could list it quickly even though it’s a bit cluttered right now and they could easily work around my roommate’s schedule.

That was a fun weekend.  I’m out of shape and got my butt (well my lungs and heart really) kicked on the “easy” mountain bike run we did.  I got to see Mike race on today which made me happy as I’ve never seen him race.

I did my Emergency First Responder class tonight.  It’s similar to the Red Cross First Aid and CPR classes.  I have to take that before I can do the Rescue Diver course.

Now off to a weekend in Grand County with Mike and Lisa!  I’m looking forward to mountain biking and hanging out with them.  I’m also looking forward to spending some time with Colorado Mother Nature as I will miss the Colorado mountains when I leave.

There is a company in Bali that I am quite impressed with.  They make houses and furniture out of bamboo and are trying to teach people about the sustainability of bamboo.  They are affiliated with a school, a hotel, and a kids camp also.  I researched all the companies and think I would love to work for any of them.  I sent my resume and a letter to Ibuku, Bambu Indah, Green Camp, Green Village, and Green School today.  I feel really drawn to this group of companies.  It would be great to work with them in some way.  I got a standard response that Green Camp receives a lot of applications and they will get back to me.

The realtor I was thinking of using to sell the house said she’s list it for $265,000 with the hopes of selling it for $250,000.  I’m not quite sure what number I was hoping for, but this was not it.  I think I’ll look for another realtor.

Diving

I might want to work as a divemaster.  Maybe, I should be ready for that.  I did a little research.  You have to have your advanced certification, then you can get your rescue diver certification and then divemaster.  Well, I have the advanced certification so today I signed up for my rescue diver certification.  It will be too much to do the divemaster certification here, but this should set me up for it.  Plus, it’s not a bad skill set to have!
